We face a global youth unemployment crisis, yet employers struggle to identify and hire skilled talent. General Assembly develops solutions that serve the needs of both of these populations and bridges the gap between them to conquer these intertwined challenges. Through partnerships with nonprofits and government agencies who specialize in serving disconnected youth, General Assembly combines best practice youth development principles with proven accelerated training to create powerful pathways for underserved youth into high-wage, in-demand jobs in technology, business, data, and design. General Assembly’s Credentialing Network has developed free skills-based assessments that evaluate potential employees’ ability to solve business problems with technology using 21st century skills so that they no longer have to rely on traditional hiring methods that risk excluding hidden talent. Assessments designed by and for employers make the hiring process more transparent and evaluate talent at different career stages. Together these interventions are closing the digital divide.
