Victor Mallet

Principal, Catalyst Energy

Victor Mallet has been an entrepreneur in media and social venture in the US and in Africa, and has now focused the last 10 years on development of power project development in Africa. Having graduated from MIT in chemical engineering, he then went on to Boston Consulting Group before branching out to work with SMEs in Pennsylvania and then co-founding an organic food company in Philadelphia. After exiting that business, Victor attended the Stanford Graduate School of Business, upon which he started ReelAfrican, which became one of Africa’s leading video-on-demand platforms showcasing African content. In 2015 that company was sold off to Kagiso Media, a South African media holding company. Concurrent with activities in media/film, since 2010 he has focused his energies on power project development in Africa, beginning that work in Ghana and continuing it now in Mozambique and southern Africa, where he has been based for the past 5 years. Victor is passionate about entrepreneurship and believes entrepreneurs – either starting their own ventures, or from within existing companies – have a singular ability to improve the quality of life at every level for their fellow citizens.
