Pieter Nel is a Digital Expert at McKinsey and Company where he advises clients on artificial intelligence and digital strategy. Prior to joining McKinsey he advised Chinese internet company Tencent on the growth of their mobility products in markets outside of China. He has held multiple C-level positions in leading startups around the world including the world’s first mobile instant messenger and first mobile live-streaming companies. Mr Nel holds a Masters degree in Electronics Engineering from the University of Stellenbosch, where he specialized in machine learning and artificial intelligence as applied to speech recognition. As a Sloan Fellow, he gained an MBA from MIT, pursuing his interest in digital strategy with funding from the Legatum Center and Mastercard Foundation. He is a Senior Member of the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
