Maria has more than 20 years of combined professional experience in financial inclusion, investment promotion, and capital markets. She worked as a short term intermittent consultant for the Office of Technical Assistance – US Treasury Department, where she provided technical assistance in enhancing access to credit to Micro & Small Enterprises for the Dominican Republic and the review and draft law to promote and develop Micro & Small Enterprises for El Salvador. In addition, she consulted for The Mix (regulations for financial inclusion in emerging markets), and advised local micro credit institutions in capacity building.
Maria started her career at the World Bank, Washington DC as an analyst and she holds an MBA from The George Washington University and a BA in Political Science from Universidad Católica de Córdoba.
