A native of Kentucky, Josh Frazier-Sparks graduated from Berea College and earned a Masters of Education from the University of Kentucky where he’s also pursuing a Doctorate of Organizational Leadership. He was selected into the 2008 Teach For America–New Mexico corps where he taught middle school science. Inspired by this early experience of working side by side with educators, school and business leaders, and students and families to positively impact the community, Josh decided to continue serving in his home state of Kentucky. As Executive Director of Teach For America- Appalachia, Sparks worked to create a permanent pathway to teacher certification for nontraditional teachers and a public funding stream with the Kentucky Legislature and developed a teacher training program that delivers on academic outcomes for students. Now, Josh is excited to be working on the Retail Opportunity team at Walmart where he focuses on improving the skill development and mobility ecosystem of the incumbent, front line, service sector workforce.
