Forrest Liau leads advanced technology development at Tesla in Silicon Valley, developing new materials, manufacturing systems, and cabin architectures for high-performance autonomous electric vehicles in support of Tesla’s mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy. Previously, Forrest designed manufacturing solutions at Apple and helped its suppliers worldwide overcome multidisciplinary challenges to refresh the entire family of MacBooks and introduce new product categories including Pencil, Smart Battery Case, and AirPods.
Forrest holds bachelor and Ph.D. degrees from MIT, and was actively involved in the Cambridge/Boston entrepreneurial ecosystem. He helped launch several startups including RallyPoint, which developed wearable devices for Augmented Reality through government research contracts; and SunPoint, winner of the Renewables category of the MIT Clean Energy Prize. Forrest is a mentor for MIT’s Alumni Association, Venture Mentoring Service, and $100K Entrepreneurship Competition.
