Carolyn is a national expert in end of life care and an experienced successful health care entrepreneur since 1983, when she helped guide the first Medicare reimbursement for hospice successfully through Congress. Throughout her career, by building large scalable and profitable businesses, Carolyn has created solutions for social problems and provided leadership for struggling organizations.
In 2009, Carolyn accepted the leadership of the Michigan Women’s Foundation to help women realize economic self-sufficiency and social equality. She created the Power of 100 Women, a leadership group that focuses on advocacy, leadership development for young and emerging leaders, and economic security for women. In 2010 the Foundation developed a Microloan Fund to encourage entrepreneurship and the creation of women owned businesses.
In 2012 she started BELLE Michigan, LP, an early stage investment fund, investing in women owned /managed businesses in Michigan. The Fund, first of its kind in Michigan, currently has nearly 50 women investors. Carolyn serves as the General Partner.
Carolyn has a Master of Public Administration degree from Western Michigan University, her BA from Miami University, and was a Class V Kellogg National Leadership Fellow.Return to Experts
