Allyson has supported hundreds of social ventures to become economically sustainable and increase their social impact. She developed and helps lead the social innovation programs at MaRS which has included Social Innovation Generation (SiG); the Centre for Impact Investing; Solutions Lab; and Studio Y which helped develop leaders for success in the innovation economy.
With the McConnell Foundation Allyson is leading an initiative to determine how best to engage corporate Canada in solving our most complex challenges.
She was a member of the federal Social Innovation and Social Finance Steering Group which launched their recommendations in August 2018 and resulted in an $800M+ federal investment in social finance.
She is the Thinker-in-Residence for the Social Capital Residency in South Australia and she is the Social Entrepreneur in Residence at the University of Waterloo MBET program. She has also been an educator/mentor in many programs related to social innovation & entrepreneurship at various post-secondary institutions.
Allyson has an academic background in Criminology, Law, Public Affairs, Voluntary Sector Management and Leading Change and she recently completed her Coaching certification. Prior to MaRS she was a national child advocate SickKids hospital.
